Chocolate Cake (the Best)!

Hello friends!  I have the best (and only) chocolate cake recipe that you will ever need.  It’s wonderful; plus, it’s super simple to make.  This recipe has been in my family ever since I was a little girl and I am told that this recipe comes from a woman that grew up with my parents and she used it as a wedding cake recipe.

Try it — I promise that you won’t be disappointed!

CHOCOLATE CAKE

Ingredients:

2 cups white sugar

3 cups flour

6 Tbsp. Hershey’s Cocoa Powder

2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

3/4 cup vegetable oil

2 Tbsp. vinegar

2 cups cold water

2 tsp. vanilla

Mix all of the above ingredients with an electric mixer until blended.  Bake at 350º for 30-40 minutes.

Now, who can eat a chocolate cake with anything but peanut butter icing?

PEANUT BUTTER ICING

1 pound confectioner’s sugar (2 cups)

1 tsp. vanilla

2 egg whites

3/4 stick softened butter

1/2 cup Crisco

1 cup peanut butter

Beat all ingredients together on low speed.  Add dribbles of milk to reach desired consistency.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂

At the Library

Hello friends!  Did you all have a great Halloween weekend?  As always, we had a busy weekend.  Our town doesn’t actually have Trick or Treat on the actual date of October 31st, (I know, crazy), but we did watch scary movies with the kids.  It’s lots of fun to go back and watch those movies that really scared you when you were a kid.  Then as an adult they’re just not quite as scary!  We also celebrated my dad’s 80th birthday.  He is a Halloween baby, so that’s always a fun little twist.

Anyway, I wanted to share my card that I made for the library ladies this week.  It is with the Acorny Thank You, Awesomely Artistic and Word Play Stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!  I love this combination of colors — they’re chocolate chip, soft sky and mossy meadow.

Have a wonderful week!
